BREAKING: Boston Celtics Reportedly Trade Key Player To Dallas Mavericks

Grant Williams has been a very solid role player for the Boston Celtics for each of the last four seasons (he was the 22nd pick in the 2019 NBA Draft).

This past year, the former Tennessee star averaged 8.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per contest while shooting 45.4% from the field and 39.5% from the three-point range in 79 regular season games.

On Wednesday, Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reports that he is being traded to the Dallas Mavericks in a three-team deal with the San Antonio Spurs.

Via Charania: “Sources: The Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs and Boston Celtics are finalizing a three-team trade:

 – Mavs: Grant Williams

 – Spurs: Reggie Bullock and an unprotected Dallas pick swap in 2030

 – Celtics: Multiple second-round picks”

Williams helped the Celtics make the Eastern Conference Finals three times in four seasons (they made the NBA Finals in 2022), so he is bringing lots of experience to the Mavs’ locker room.

This past year, the Mavs were the 11th seed in the Western Conference with a 38-44 record, so they missed the NBA Playoffs (and the play-in tournament).

That said, they made the Western Conference Finals in 2022 and have an elite roster that features Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.
